Blue-green algae Red Alert warning for Chaffey Dam and the Peel River downstream of the storage has been cleared

The previously issued Red Alert level warning (high alert) for toxic blue-green algae (cyanobacteria) has been cleared for Chaffey Dam located 35 kilometres South-East of Tamworth and for the Peel River below the storage.

The previously issued Red Alert level warning (high alert) for toxic blue-green algae has been downgraded to a lower alert level for Macquarie River downstream of Burrendong Dam extending to and past Dubbo in the Central West region.

Blue-green algae Red Alert warning for Carcoar Dam has been cleared

The red alert warning for blue-green algae at Carcoar Dam has been lifted after two consecutive algal samples showed levels below the red alert threshold. The site is now on an amber alert for blue-green algae.

WaterNSW has issued a Red Alert advisory for high levels of potentially toxic blue-green algae for Pindari Dam near Inverell. Water users downstream of the storage should apply caution and regularly check water supplies.
