WaterInsights

The clearest source of water information in NSW.

WaterInsights web tool

Bringing water data to your fingertips.

WaterNSW is aware of satellite issues causing intermittent delays to some river height and flow data. While most gauging sites are unaffected, the issue is expected to continue for several weeks and we are working on interim solutions. Check the date of the data displayed in WaterInsights to ensure it is current.

WaterInsights is an interactive web tool, covering 760 water sources in NSW. It provides easy access to everything you need to know about water resources and how we manage water. It is useful for people in many sectors including farming, irrigation, environmental, education, and recreation, to name a few.

WaterInsights offers comprehensive data from our own systems as well as from the Bureau of Meteorology (the Bureau), the Murray Darling Basin Authority (MDBA) and the Department of Planning and Environment (DPE).

WaterInsights forms part of our commitment to provide transparent, clear and up to date information to our customers and the communities we serve.

WaterInsights is easy to use and provides information on:

  • water availability, allocations, and balances
  • water quality alerts such as algae alerts
  • volumes in storages
  • water trades
  • river flow and levels
  • forecast rainfall
  • operational updates including temporary restrictions and flow announcements
  • historical data on storages, water allocations and usage
  • rules and conditions for water management

WaterInsights also has direct links to all Water Sharing Plans, the Access Licence Register, the Water Register and iWAS.
