Preliminary blue-green algal red alert issued for Lake Cawndilla

Following strong musky odours and observations of an algal scum, WaterNSW has issued a preliminary red alert advisory for high levels of potentially toxic blue-green algae for Lake Cawndilla near Menindee. An algal sample was taken from the lake and will be sent for laboratory analysis and confirmation.

WaterNSW has issued a Red Alert advisory for high levels of potentially toxic blue-green algae for Copeton Dam near Inverell. This alert has been initiated by visual observations and satellite imagery. Algae samples have been collected to confirm the alert.

Blue-green Algae Red Alert warning for Carcoar Dam has been lifted

The Red Alert level warning issued by WaterNSW based on satellite imagery for a high level of potentially toxic blue-green algae has been lifted for Carcoar Dam. The dam is now on amber alert for blue-green algae.

The Red Alert level warning issued by WaterNSW for a high level of potentially toxic blue-green algae has been lifted for Hunter River upstream of Glenbawn Dam. The site is now on no alert for blue-green algae.
