Noticeboard for DQP updates
Local intelligence device (LID) stock information: The YDOC LID, is currently unavailable. Whilst the YDOC LID was previously the only non-telemetry LID approved, the Halytech Meterwatch has now been approved for use, and available for selection in the DQP Portal.
LID vendor change: As of 30 October 2024, SigSense will be removed as a LID vendor option from the DQP Portal. This is a result of the recent operational changes at SigSense.
Validation Certificate reminder: A site will only be marked as compliant with the non-urban metering framework once a Validation Certificate has been issued. If you and the customer have not received the Validation Certificate, this job requires additional work to be complete.
LID reporting data: All data recorded from a LID will continue to be displayed in Eastern Standard Time (EST), regardless of Daylight-Saving Time (DST) changes in New South Wales.

Equipment information
Under the non-urban metering rules, it is important to be aware of the following equipment specifications:
A compliant meter: Meters installed on or after 1 April must be pattern-approved. If a meter was installed prior to this date, it does not have to be pattern-approved but must be shown to be +/- 2.5% accurate in factory conditions or +/- 5% accurate in the field. The Commonwealth Department of Climate Change, Energy, Environment and Water maintains a list of pattern-approved non-urban water meters.
A local intelligence device (LID): The installation of a LID may be required on a customers meter under the non-urban metering reform guidelines. An LID securely records water usage from pattern-approved meters. This data can be downloaded by the NSW Government through telemetry transmission or via on-site download. The LIDs contained in this NSW DCCEEW LIDs list are approved for non-urban metering guidelines and are either in production or available for purchase.
Tamper-proof seals: These seals are supplied by Irrigation Australia Limited (IAL) and show if equipment has been interfered with. These seals are branded with the NSW Waratah logo and can only be purchased for use in NSW by current Certified Meter Installers & Validators (CMIs) and Certified Practising Hydrographers (CPHs). These seals can only be installed or broken by a duly qualified person, or a WaterNSW or NRAR employee who is an authorised officer.
Data Acquisition Service (DAS) information
Under NSW metering rules, all systems that use surface or groundwater must have an approved meter and local intelligence device (LID) installed.
If the customer has a requirement to, or has voluntarily chosen to connect to the telemetry system, the information collected from the LID is transferred to the Data Acquisition Service (DAS). The DAS collects and stores the data from telemetered meters, with the LID sending the information from the field through a secure network, that can be accessed by various government agencies and water users.
Once the metering equipment is installed, the water user will receive a welcome email which has a link to create a new user profile for the DAS. It is important that a customer has access to the DAS, to enable them to understand their usage and assist in decision-making. They will also be automatically notified if their telemetry device stops working.
