WaterNSW monitoring inflows across inland major dams

9 OCTOBER 2022

WaterNSW continues to monitor and manage storage inflows into major dams across regional NSW, with heavy inflows occurring into Burrendong, Wyangala, and Burrinjuck dams in the past 24 hours.

Burrinjuck Dam is continuing to spill, along with Windamere on the Cudgegong River, for the first time since 1990, and Split Rock on the Upper Namoi, for the first time since 2001.

The remaining major WaterNSW regional dams still have storage capacity to capture inflow that is expected to continue due to overnight rain across most regional catchments.

Dam storages as at 2pm(gigalitres per day):

  • Burrinjuck 106% - Inflows 100GL/day - releasing 100GL/day
  • Blowering 98.7% - Inflow 5GL/day – releasing 0.6GL/day
  • Burrendong 130.8% - Inflow 210GL/day – releasing 30GL/day
  • Wyangala 96.1% - Inflow 90GL/day – releasing 35GL/day
  • Keepit 89.7% - Inflow 4GL/day – releasing zero GL/day
  • Copeton 97.7% - Inflow 35GL/day – releasing 30GL/day
