Access roads upgrades

Cordeaux, Avon and Medlow Dams

About

WaterNSW is upgrading access roads at Cordeaux Dam and Avon Dam in the Illawarra region, south of Sydney, and at Medlow Dam in the Blue Mountains. The upgrade works will provide safe and reliable access for our operations team so they can continue to perform essential dam operations and maintenance.

What’s involved?

  • pavement remediation and construction upgrades to access roads and causeways
  • cleaning debris from existing drainage infrastructure
  • upgrading or constructing new drainage infrastructure
  • clearing vegetation
  • widening approach roads and turning circles to improve manoeuvrability for larger trucks
  • repairing potholes
  • rectifying the damaged sealed road and surface drainage at Avon Dam

Public access to the recreational areas will remain open during construction. Visitors may notice some temporary disruptions around the recreational areas including additional noise, machinery and an increase of construction-related traffic on public access roads. Please follow all site signage and be aware of construction traffic.
