Berembed Weir gates to undergo important maintenance
2 JUNE 2025WaterNSW starts maintenance on Berembed Weir this month, to improve the structural integrity of the weir’s vertical lift gates.
A WaterNSW spokesperson said the works will ensure staff can safely operate and maintain the weir, so that it provides water security to customers and the community into the future.
Berembed Weir is located on the Murrumbidgee River, about 60 kilometres west of Wagga Wagga. The weir provides an essential weir pool to supply water to the state's major irrigation districts in the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area, and downstream townships.
Cranes will be used to make structural repairs to the vertical lift gates and replace the gate rollers.
Public access to the weir area will be restricted to enable safe and efficient maintenance works and to ensure public safety.
Work will start in mid June and is expected to take around four weeks to complete, weather permitting.
Customers diverting water via Bundidgerry Creek will experience an outage while the work takes place. WaterNSW is working closely with impacted customers.
