Keepit upgrade

Keepit upgrade

About the upgrade

  • Cost: in excess of $100 million
  • Funded by: the NSW Government

Purpose

Upgrade to comply with ANCOLD and contemporary safety standards. Works package one of the Keepit Dam safety upgrade was completed in 2011 and consisted of construction of two spillways and three saddle dams. Works package two involves strengthening the main dam wall and involved electrical relocatio works prior to the main construction work. Storage capacity and water releases will not be altered by the upgrade.

Construction on Keepit Dam’s current works package to strengthen the main dam wall started in April 2017. For safety reasons, public access to the main wall will not be permitted during the construction period, however a viewing and turning area will be available at the approach to the main wall. The access restrictions commenced from March 2017, and will continue until mid-2019. WaterNSW apologises for any inconvenience to the public caused during this period.
