WaterNSW confirms two new Board appointments

28 March 2022

WaterNSW has confirmed the appointment of two members to its Board of directors, including new Chair, Mr Peter Duncan AM.

Mr Duncan will commence in the Board Chair role immediately, alongside new director, Ms Victoria Taylor. The term of their appointment is March 2022-2025.

Following confirmation of the appointments by the NSW Government, Acting Chair, Ms Kaye Dalton will continue her term as director.

Mr Duncan has more than 40 years’ experience in government and infrastructure, holding various senior public sector roles including the departments of Premier and Cabinet, Transport for NSW, and Primary Industries. He has also worked as chief executive in fields such as transport, infrastructure, forestry, parks, maritime, technology and services.

Ms Taylor has more than two decades’ experience in primary industries policy, governance and communications, including a Ministerial appointment to the NSW Rice Marketing Board.

In welcoming the appointments, WaterNSW CEO Andrew George said the significant experience and expertise of Mr Duncan and Ms Taylor will be welcomed by the Board and the organisation.

“The leadership and oversight of the Board is a critical component of our performance in a water sector that is often challenged by drought and flood, and where we must meet the highest expectations of our customers and the community at large.

“On behalf of WaterNSW, I welcome Mr Duncan and Ms Taylor, and look forward to working with them and our fellow Board members in navigating the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

Mr George also acknowledged Ms Dalton’s time as interim Chair, and the contribution of outgoing former director, Mr Robert Aldis.

“On behalf of WaterNSW I thank Ms Dalton for her important contribution as acting Chair and look forward to her ongoing support and advice as Board member.

“Our sincere thanks also to Mr Aldis, whose input was invaluable in transforming WaterNSW into an accomplished operator of the critical assets and water resources in NSW.”
