The previously issued Red Alert level warning (high alert) for toxic blue-green algae has been cleared for Chaffey Dam located 35 kilometres South-East of Tamworth and the Peel River below the storage.

WaterNSW is maintaining its advice to landholders to be vigilant for river height fluctuations as a result of releases from Blowering Dam in the coming days and weeks.

WaterNSW wishes to advise that the trade opportunity for the Barmah Choke will open at 12.05am on 1 July 2022 . The Murray Darling Basin Authority (MDBA), who manage and monitor the Barmah Choke trade balance, have noted the balance to start the 2022-23 water year will be the highest since trade restrictions came into effect for the Barmah Choke in 2014. The opening trade balance is expected to be approximately 40.6 gigalitres (GL).

WaterNSW has issued a Red Alert advisory for high levels of potentially toxic blue-green algae at for Chaffey Dam located 35 kilometres South-East of Tamworth. The Peel River below the storage is also on Red Alert (High Alert), water users below the storage should seek alternate water for stock and domestic purposes.
