13 December 2021

The gate to the back area of Bendeela Recreation Area will open for the summer school holidays at midday on Friday, 17 December. The gate will remain open until 4pm on Sunday 30 January 2022.

With large numbers expected at Bendeela throughout the holiday period, there will be limits on the number of campers entering the site.

Please note that the period between Christmas and New Year is already booked out.

All campers require a booking. Bookings can be made via the WaterNSW website:

Bookings are for a maximum of seven days to allow as many people as possible to enjoy the area. Camping remains free however there is a $6 site booking fee to cover administrative costs.

Security will be on site 24/7 throughout the holiday period. There is a designated alcohol-free area on the campground.

Bendeela is a vital part of Greater Sydney’s drinking water catchment, so WaterNSW is reminding visitors to follow the rules, stay safe and respect wildlife and other visitors throughout their stay.

The recreation area is home to many native animals, especially wombats. Visitors must respect the wildlife by not patting or feeding animals, giving animals space and driving slowly around the site.

Visitors are reminded to comply with relevant public health orders in line with

government Covid-19 restrictions.
