Dam inflows vary, but quarter of NSW still in ‘intense drought’

Several dams hardest hit by the ongoing drought in New South Wales have experienced welcome reprieve with recent rainfall resulting in the first inflows in years and a minor increase to dam levels.

The Red Alert for Harrington Park Lake in Harrington Park near Camden has now been lifted. Recent sampling by Camden Council has shown significant reductions in levels of blue-green algae in this, and other lakes across the region.

324 pump restrictions lifted in Namoi, Border Rivers

WaterNSW is advising that a NSW Government temporary pump restriction has been lifted for general security access licences in the Border Rivers and Upper and Lower Namoi water sources.

A red alert level warning (high alert) has been issued for Hume Dam. Water quality monitoring by WaterNSW indicates the presence of high levels of potentially toxic cyanobacteria.

Red Alert warning lifted for Toonumbar Dam

The Red Alert for Toonumbar Dam west of Kyogle has now been lifted. Sampling by WaterNSW dam staff has shown significantly reduced levels of blue-green algae at both sampling points on the dam. It is now at Green Alert with regular monitoring still in place.
