Blue-green algae Red Alert for Lostock Dam and Paterson River

A Red Alert level warning (high alert) for blue-green algae has been issued for Lostock Dam and the Paterson River upstream and downstream of the storage. The Red Alert is based on highly concentrated scums observed in the lake and stretches of the Paterson River. The lake is currently spilling which increases the likelihood of downstream impacts relating to the bloom. Samples have been taken and results are pending.

Blue green algae Red Alert warning lifted for Cobram and Tocumwal

The previously issued high level algal warning (Red Alert) for Cobram and Tocumwal on the Murray River has been cleared. Monitoring conducted by WaterNSW has shown that concentrations of blue-green algae have declined considerably.  Red alerts issued for Corowa and immediately downstream from Yarrawonga Weir remain current until consecutive weekly results fall below the high alert threshold.

A recreational Red Alert level warning (high alert) for blue-green algae has been issued for Pejar Dam near Goulburn in southern NSW. Recent monitoring by Goulburn Mulwaree Council has shown high concentrations of potential toxin producing cyanobacteria.

A Red Alert warning (high alert) for blue-green algae has been issued for Burrendong Dam which is located 30 kilometres south-east of Wellington in the Central West region.

Blue-green algae Red Alert for Murray River at Moama/Echuca

A new red alert warning (high alert) has been issued for Moama/Echuca on the Murray River. This declaration of a red alert follows testing undertaken by WaterNSW. A red alert level warning (high alert) remains in place for the Murray River between Corowa and Picnic Point, as weekly monitoring shows a potentially harmful algal bloom is persistent. WaterNSW will continue to monitor water quality at key locations and will provide updates soon as results become available.
