19 August 2020

Releases from Blowering Dam will be temporarily stopped tomorrow to allow for urgent remedial works. The public recreational areas will remain open for the duration of the closure.

Releases from the dam into the Tumut River will stop for 6 hours from 8AM on Thursday the 20th of August.

Individual emails, SMS and phone calls advising detailed information about the interruption to flows have been circulated and WaterNSW wants to ensure all businesses and landholders reliant on Tumut River that the works will be carried out as swiftly as possible. For any urgent inquiries please contact WaterNSW on 1300 662 077 or submit an enquiry online.

WaterNSW Executive Manager of Water Systems Adrian Langdon said that to carry out the remedial works releases from the dam needed to stop.

“Releases from the dam into the Tumut River, downstream of Blowering Dam, will be disruptedfor approximately 6 hours”, he said.

“The break in supply is likely to cause moderate problems to downstream water users, however, WaterNSW is contacting key landholders immediately downstream, who are likely to be affected so alternative arrangements can be made.”
