Red Alert warning lifted for Angourie Blue Pool near Yamba

23 March 2020

The Red Alert for Angourie Blue Pool near Yamba has now been lifted.

Recent sampling by Clarence Valley Council has shown a significant reduction in levels of blue-green algae in the Blue Pool.

As the Red Alert has been lifted there are no longer any restrictions on recreational activities in the Blue Pool, as previously advised.

The Green Pool remains at Red Alert and recreational users are still advised to avoid all contact with the water. Clarence Valley Council will continue regular monitoring.

Blue-green algae occur naturally and can reproduce quickly in favourable conditions where there is still or slow-flowing water, abundant sunlight and sufficient levels of nutrients.
