Carryover reminder as Murrumbidgee trade ends

Carryover reminder as Murrumbidgee trade ends

23 April 2019

Two Murrumbidgee valley water trading periods will close on 30 April and 31 May, respectively, and customers are being reminded to utilise their carryover water to avoid the risk of losing it.

In accordance with the Murrumbidgee regulated river Water Sharing Plan (WSP), the following closure dates apply for water allocation trading:

  • Murrumbidgee regulated water interstate – 11:59 pm, 30 April 2019.
  • Murrumbidgee regulated water intravalley – 11:59 pm, 31 May 2019.

Under the Murrumbidgee WSP, Murrumbidgee licence holders will be at risk of forfeiting water at the close of trade if there is more water in their account than the WSP carryover rules allow.

To avoid forfeiting water licence holders can either use the water or trade the water.

WaterNSW executive manager customer and community, David Stockler, said the organisation is currently contacting customers to remind them of the rules regarding carryover and their potential impact.

“We are acting to ensure customers are aware of the potential implications,” Mr Stockler said.

“This approach reflects our commitment to continuing to enhance our levels of service and striving to make it easier for our customers as they go about running their businesses.”
