Red Alert warning lifted at Lower Darling: Burtundy to Jamesville block bank

16 November 2018

The Red Alert warning in Lower Darling River at Burtundy and upstream approximately 20 km to include the Jamesville block bank pool has been lifted following two consecutive results below red alert levels.

As the Red Alert has been lifted there are no longer any restrictions on recreational activities in the areas mentioned and water sourced is suitable for stock and domestic uses.

As algal numbers can change dramatically with changes in conditions, water users should avoid water which is discoloured or gives off an earthy or musty odour.

Updates and information about blue-green algae blooms and Red Alert warning areas can be obtained by calling 1800 999 457 or visiting – http://www.waternsw.com.au/water-quality/algae
