Carryover reminder as water year ends

Carryover reminder as water year ends

08 June 2018

The 2017/18 water year is set to close which could result in some customers forfeiting water.

Under the state’s various water sharing plans (WSP), licence holders will be at risk of forfeiting water as at 30 June if there is more water in their account than the WSP carryover rules allow.

To avoid forfeiting water licence holders can either use the water or trade the water.

WaterNSW is currently contacting customers to remind them of the rules regarding carryover and their potential impact.

A spokesperson for WaterNSW said the organisation was acting to ensure customers are aware of the potential implications.

“While the vast majority of customers are aware of the manner in which the end to the water year can have a bearing on carryover, WaterNSW is reaching out to customers to minimise the likelihood of anyone forfeiting water because they were unaware,” the spokesperson said.
