Real time dynamic CARMComputer Aided River Management Systems (CARM), is a new model of management for a natural river system, which will support efficient and frequent decision making by our river operators to ensure that the most efficient operational settings are achieved and that irrigators, environmental and other customers receive the right amount of water at the right location at the right time.

Our river systems are complex and the need to meet irrigation, environment and town water demands often results in excess water being released from our dams which is surplus to actual requirements

New technology is achieving water efficiencies on-farm and in irrigation delivery systems, and has led to a new focus on better river management, through smarter river operations.

The complex nature of river system operation and the need to meet irrigation, environment and town water demands, can result in excess water being released from our dams surplus to actual requirements.

CARM is based on hydraulic flow models with real time flow and rainfall telemetry measurement, allowing greater optimisation of dam releases and unregulated flows to meet water use demands at the right time, quantity and duration.

This enables WaterNSW to provide better customer water sharing management services and delivery of NSW river resources to our regional community.
